Get involved!
Here is a fun and easy way to get involved in the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO). Now is the perfect time to get out your textas and cameras and send us your photo message for the IDAHO which took place on May 17th. And yes, we’re still accepting photo messages until the end of August!
This year’s Victorian campaign involved an interactive Website, a “Photo Kiosk”, a huge range of radio programs and print media discussions with specific content leading up to IDAHO and a lot of community networking! Activities addressing homophobia continue throughout the year leading to the next IDAHO in 2010.
The Website:
Its not too late to participate in the IDAHO website as we’ll still be uploading photos until the end of August. Here is what you need to do.
1. Write a message on a piece of paper which challenges homophobia
2. Hold the piece of paper next to your face
3. Get a friend to take your photo,
4. Email the photo to time2@stophomophobiatoday.com
Photo Kiosk
The “Photo Kiosk” was held in Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall in the CBD on Friday 15th May – a huge success. Many people dropped past to have pictures taken of themselves with their messages. The photos have made their way online so please have a look for your pic! If you conducted an event leading up to IDAHO, or are planning one to address homophobia in the weeks ahead please let is know and we’ll share your event with others.
Please join us.
Right across the State many community organisations, associations and individuals ran local events . Everyone was invited to upload their photos and register their activities on the web-site. You and your work-place or organisation can still play a significant role in getting the message out there. Continue to plan your local events – we will publicise events via our campaign web-site. We encourage you to take photos at your workplace or community organisation, then email them to us and we’ll tag your organisation as playing a part with IDAHO and this will show-up in the web-site.
