International Day Against Homophobia – May 17th – keep sending us your pics/messages until end Aug 09
I am pleased to support the International Day against Homophobia. It is critical in our society that the right of consenting individuals to express their sexual preference is upheld without any fear of retribution. Having a day on which this issue is raised in the awareness of the public, is one way attention is drawn to this important matter. It also makes people aware that this freedom is not available in many countries throughout the world, and even when such a right is present in a society, prejudice can still prevail.
“In this day and age, I still find it hard to believe homophobia still has an ugly presence in our society and other societies around the world. We have of course come along way, but it is a shame that a minority of people still find it necessary to discriminate and be blinkered to the basic human rights our community strives for. I am hopeful, however, that in my lifetime, my sexuality which is as intrinsic as the colour of my eyes, will finally become as ‘normal’ and ‘acceptable’ as hetrosexuality. Fingers crossed” – Adam
